5 Flower Paintings Made During The Pandemic....

I had made a few flower paintings in the past and during the first few days when we were staying home in spring of 2020 I started drawing the flowers I had at home and the houseplants that my neighbors bought me when they would go out.

Unfortunately my studio was about 13 miles away and the subway seemed too scary to take, so I found a way to take a ferry and bicycle and when I finally made it there on May 28, I painted one of the houseplants I was living with....a cyclamen

This Oil Painting is titled " First Pandemic Painting" 12 x 12 inches 2020

A couple of Months later some very dear friends of mine were celebrating an anniversary in Berlin. I was one of the coefficients at the wedding and their help and support meant a lot to me during the pandemic so I painted a bouqet of Sunflowers for them...

This Oil Painting is titled "Anniversary", it's 24 by 18 inches 2021

I Had always liked the way spray paint looks in paintings,  Betty Thompson, Futura, Keltie Ferris, Julie Mehretu have all been inspiring to me so I thought I would try it myself and put a flower arrangement on top of it,,,

This Oil Painting is entitled Camden Town and it's 16 x 20 painted in 2021

I tried to abstract the flowers much more and I love the way the brushed ....paint sits on top of the spray paint

This Oil Painting is Titled Crystal Vase (The Vase That Blew Away) it's 20 x 20 inches 2021
