Getting Started on A Bigger Painting

This morning I started spraypainting a canvas......It looks pretty good like this, maybe I won't even paint anymore.....

 

Painting By Sunlight...

Some of my favorite flower paintings were painted by Manet and Fantin-LaTour before the invention of the electric light, so  I thought I'd give it a try "Sunlight" 8 x 8 inches

My Mom Loves Flowers...

My sister sent me this picture of my 96 year old Mom in The Nursing home with my Flower Painting in her room, that warmed my heart. My Mom is a super talented artist who wanted to go to art school...

Drawing FightClouds

In Late August I packed up my Bushwick Studio and Moved everything to a much bigger space 3 blocks away from my Apt, I'm now at 133rd st and 12 Ave and I set up a desk area by the window and I've been drawing like Crazy!......On Yupo and Bristol board with Pencil and Alcohol Inks....

 

5 Flower Paintings Made During The Pandemic....

   I had made a few flower paintings in the past and during the first few days when we were staying home in spring of 2020 I started drawing the flowers I had at home and the houseplants that my neighbors bought me when they would go out. 

  Unfortunately my studio was about 13 miles away and the subway seemed too scary to take, so I found a way to take a ferry and bicycle and when I finally made it there on May 28, I painted one of the houseplants I was living with....a cyclamen

A couple of Months later some very dear friends of mine were celebrating an anniversary in Berlin. I was one of the coefficients at the wedding and their help and support meant a lot to me during the pandemic so I painted a bouqet of Sunflowers for them...

I Had always liked the way spray paint looks in paintings,  Betty Thompson, Futura, Keltie Ferris, Julie Mehretu have all been inspiring to me so I thought I would try it myself and put a flower arrangement on top of it,,,

I tried to abstract the flowers much more and I love the way the brushed ....paint sits on top of the spray paint

I started to Make paintings from the drawings I had made back in March 2020 when I was stuck at home.....

I've continued to paint flowers including some 30 x 40 paintings of arrangements in the post above

Most of These are 30 x 40 inches....that's big for me!

 

living With Flower Sculptures

I've been making these sculptures while listening to music so each one becomes a record of my listening......I'd like to install some outside....they are all around 30 inches long, made out of porcelain or sculpey, I want to make them out of something weatherproof  so I can install them on buildings..

 

Living Breathing Paintings

Since paintings really are an extension of myself, I put my whole being into their making I want them to have a lot of life, so I'm experimenting with different ways to keep the paintings moving.......

 I have been getting so much pleasure out of painting flowers!.....Experimenting with different painting techniques and continuing my education!
